5 Things To Do At A Ski Resort

Whilst skiing is a fantastic holiday choice in itself there are many other activities for skiers and boarders to participate in to add to their holiday experience.  Ski resorts worldwide offer an array of additional snow activities for individuals and groups to give you a break from the slopes. With so many options available we have chosen our top five to experience when on a skiing holiday.

The first on our list is snow shoeing; it is a safe and affordable activity which can be enjoyed by all. Usually holiday makers go on short walks to walk through woodlands and enjoy the scenery, whilst being in safe conditions and the route is mapped out by your guide. This tradition has been around for many years and has since evolved into an enjoyable past-time.

As an alternative to seeing the beautiful scenery, you can spend some time Dog Sledding. This is a mode of transport that has been around for many years and is used to travel over ice and through snow. The sleds are pulled by either Siberian Huskies or Alaskan malamutes; they are the breed of choice due to their willingness to work and, of course, their attractiveness.

For the sport enthusiasts out there, you can take to the snowy hills on a ski bike. Unlike a normal bike, a ski bike has been created to withstand the icy and unpredictable snow conditions. The wheels have spikes in them which enable the wheels to grip the ground, allowing you to cycle in search of the beautiful scenery with in safety.

With so many families taking to the slopes one of the best family activities is snow tubing; which has been rumoured to have been around since the early 1800’s. This activity is put together on a hill or slope and each individual sits on top of an inner tube where they are then sent down the slope. The experience is as fun filled as riding down your staircase on a cushion as a child. This is an activity suitable for all ages and group sizes and another great way to enjoy the snow.

Last on our list is ice karting, and needless to say we have saved the best until last. Whether you are holidaying with friends or family this will make for hours of fun. If you enjoy go karting, you will thoroughly enjoy ice karting; adding ice to the game creates a whole new driving challenge.

2013 is just around the corner, but you don’t have to wait until then to book your ski holiday. It is said that a skiing holiday with family and friends is a difficult one to beat and with so much to do it is clear to understand why. With so many resorts to choose from, you will be spoilt for choice; if you book early you can find some great ski deals and make huge savings on your ski wear and equipment.
