If you want to unwind, forget about your troubles and enjoy a relaxing mini break, Alexander House hotel located in Sussex is a must-visit.
A little over a year ago after an amazing two weeks in Zakynthos and a weekend in Paris, my fiancée and I ended our anniversary celebrations at Alexander House.
After a short drive from home, we were welcomed with quite possibly some of the best hospitality I have ever received when staying in such a prestigious establishment. My partner was in awe of the décor, I on the other-hand was a little too excited at the display of pristine Wellington boots lined up by the entrance; it’s the simple things in life, really.
I was fortunate enough to get the room after a “long-standing client” cancelled at the last minute. I’d like to pass on my thanks to this kind gentleman. The only room left was a suite, and let me tell you it was the size of a London apartment. After checking in and being shown to our room(s) we lost each other for a brief moment.
The suite had a large living area, with beautiful views of the surrounding rolling hills and most importantly (if you know me well) a first class coffee machine and plenty of coffee pods, a 10/10 for amenities there. The bathroom had a deep free standing bath with adjoining dressing room with his and hers sinks. As it was for a special occasion we had champagne and strawberries brought to our room and started the beginning of what would become a completely relaxing stay.
For dinner, we had a voucher included in the package, which allowed us to over indulge in mouth watering steak, decadent desserts and just a tad too much red wine.
First night of relaxing: check!
The next morning, we had a wake up call like no other. After rolling out of bed, turning on the F1 and waiting for breakfast, our living room door opened. There were two doors to our suite; we assumed they both couldn’t just be opened by anyone, and thought we had locked them. But before I could even sip my coffee, in popped a rather confused man – in just his striped boxer shorts! He proceeded to stare at us on the sofa for a fair few seconds, before apologising and possibly wondering what we were doing in his room and where was his wife. Fortunately, we were both clothed; otherwise that could easily have been quite a different story.
After composing ourselves, we set off for our treatments. I opted for the anti cellulite as I prefer a deeper tissue massage. My masseuse was lovely and the treatment very relaxing. My partner on the other hand did not have an ideal massage, and looking back should have booked in to a sports massage. We spent the rest of our day relaxing in the pool, jacuzzi and pondering around the grounds.
Just a thought. If you’re looking for a wedding venue, this hotel would be perfection. The views, general feel within the hotel and staff would make your day unforgettable.
Sadly, our stay had to come to an end and as much as I would have liked to have celebrated our 10 year anniversary here, due to timings we couldn’t find an availability. So here is to, hopefully, booking our 11 year anniversary here and gaining some wedding inspiration.
See you soon AH x
